Jean L. Johansen, 76

GRANGEVILLE: Jean L. Johansen, 76, of Grangeville formerly of Gooding passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jean was born March 18, 1928 at Gooding, Idaho a daughter of Sam and Minnie Watts Redington. She attended school in Gooding where she graduated from Gooding High School. She worked for First Security Bank before marrying Robert “Bob” Johansen on May 8, 1948 at Gooding. She then worked for Carrico, Oakley and Jones, CPA’s and Gem Veterinary in Gooding. They moved to Grangeville in 1991 where she helped her husband manage Snowhaven, Grangeville’s ski hill for a year. Mr. Johansen passed away in January 2002.
She did volunteer work for Gooding Memorial Hospital and Auxiliary and was an active member of the Gooding Christian Church and Grangeville Christian Church. She also belonged to the Good Neighbor Club in Gooding and the Melody Squares square dancers in Gooding.
She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, canning and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Sam and Ginny Johansen of Gooding, two daughters, Diane and Bruce Walker of Grangeville and Ralene Gregory of Portland, Oregon, grandchildren, Molly and Jeremy VanDomelen of Clarkston, WA, Mili Walker of Grangeville, Mike Walker of Grangeville, Matt Walker of Anchorage, AK, Robert and Rachel Gregory of Boise and Tyler and Glen of Gooding, great grandchildren, Noah and Isaac VanDomelen of Clarkston, WA, her sisters, Alberta Butler of Gooding and Doris Jones of Moses Lake, WA. In addition to her husband and parents an infant brother Joseph passed away earlier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church with Pastor Harold Gott officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Gooding Christian Church Building Fund or to the Grangeville Christian Church Building Fund.
