Lorn E. Skeen, 78

GRANGEVILLE: Lorn Edward Skeen, 78, a long time Grangeville resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 11, 2004 in Bellevue, Washington. Lorn was born on September 24, 1925 to Oliver King and Ida Murphy Skeen in Indian Valley, Idaho. He attended school in Indian Valley and served his country in the Navy during WWII and received several awards including three bronze stars. On June 16, 1946 he married Mable Sharrai in Payette, Idaho. They moved to Grangeville in 1953. Loren worked at the Ida Pine Mills where he was a dry kiln operator and yard foreman.
His greatest love and joy was found in his savior Jesus Christ and in his family. He enjoyed people, hunting, fishing, serving in his church and being a Gideon.
He is survived by three sons, Rick and Sue Skeen of Snoqualmie, WA, Mel and Nancy Skeen of Farmington, MO, Wayne and Judy Skeen of Nampa and a daughter, Twila and Chad Paluh of Grangeville. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and three sisters, Irene Higgenbottom of Seattle, WA, Alice Matthews of Boise, ID, and Roberta Madison of New Meadows, ID.
Lorn was preceded in death by his wife Mable in 1987, his brother, Lloyd, and three sisters, Lila, Stella, and Hazel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the Grangeville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Rick Jorgensen officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 17th at 1:00 p.m. (mountain time) at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. Friends may call Wednesday, September 15th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
