Doris Irene Baver, 86

On October 24, 2004 as the leaves of Autumn have began to change colors and the first snow fall has fallen on the mountain, the Lord has taken Doris Irene Baver, 86 of Grangeville to be with her parents Charles and Josephine Gordon, brothers Hayden and Kenneth and her husband Karl. She was born outside of Nezperce, Idaho on April 10, 1918. As she rode her horse, Topsy, along the Salmon River with her auburn hair a flying she was noticed by Dad, a mail stage driver. They were united in marriage, on the John Day Ranch, May 18, 1941. She worked for Irwin’s, Lindsley’s Furniture, Paul Eimers attorney and for the Grangeville School District until her blindness forced her retirement. This did not hold her back for long as soon she began her career in pottery. We also remember Christmas and all her goodies she made. She enjoyed working in her yard and would mow her lawn in the dark because she could see better.

She was always there when a person needed a little cheer or help and held all her friends very dear in her heart. Doris is survived by her three children Beverly and husband Jack Trombetta of Nezperce, Gordon and wife Bev of Wilsall, Montana and Karla and Matt Knox of Winifred, Montana. She is blessed with seven grandchildren, John Trombetta, Ken Trombetta, Tena Lycan, Chad Baver, Nathan Baver, Sally Knox and Sarah Knox and her six great grandchildren, Brittany Lycan, Tyesha Trombetta, Myah Trombetta, Micky Trombetta, Estrella Trombetta and Hannah Rose Baver.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grangeville United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolence to the family at Blackmerfuneralhome.com
