Marion J. DeHaas, 76








GRANGEVILLE: Marion J. DeHaas 76, of Grangeville passed away Sunday, January 9, 2005 at his home.

Marion was born March 8, 1928 at Grangeville, a son of William and Clara Workman DeHaas. He attended schools in Grangeville before entering the United States Army in 1950. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Frieda Eshuis on June 18, 1958. Together they ran their family farm until 1988 when he went to work as a crop insurance adjuster until 2001 when he retired to care for his wife. Frieda passed away in May of 2001.

Marion was known to be a man of integrity with a kind, caring and generous heart. He excelled in whatever job or hobby he did. It was evident that he put his whole heart into all of his work. After retiring, he enjoyed cabinet making, woodworking and home projects. He also liked to ski, golf and play with his dogs.

He attended the Christian Reformed Church most of his life, before becoming an active member of the Grangeville Christian Church.

Marion is survived by his son, James and DeeAnne DeHaas of Spokane, his daughters, Nancy and Marc Dunn of Huntsville, Alabama and Patricia and Larry Reynolds of Grangeville, his grandchildren, Cody, Benjamin, Samuel, Bailey, Chelsea and Lindsey. His mother, Clara DeHaas of Grangeville, his brothers, John DeHaas, Frank DeHaas, Don DeHaas, Bernard DeHaas, Gary DeHaas and Robert DeHaas all of Grangeville, his sister Sharon Hogaboam of Connell, WA.

In addition to his wife, his father, a brother Richard and two sisters, Betty and Patricia passed away earlier.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church with Pastor Harold Gott officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
