Hilton Lee Haddon, 80
Hilton Lee Haddon was taken home by the Lord early Saturday morning, March 5, 2005 at St. Josephs Regional Medical Center in Lewiston of complications from COPD, he was 80 years old.
Lee was born October 16, 1924 in Aberdene, WA. to Granville Tex and Ardis White Haddon.
Lee joined the Navy on Sept. 30, 1942. He served in both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans on the USS P.C. 1563, USS San Francisco and the USS Chicago. While serving on the USS Chicago, it was bombed and he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on October 11, 1946.
Lee married Mary Ida Wiggins on March 25, 1946. They had 7 children together but divorced in 1964.
Lee then married Alice Seversen which also ended in divorce.
On April 25, 1969, Lee married the final love of his life, Muriel Robins. They spent most of their married life in Elk City where Lee worked as a mill wright at Sherear Lumber until his retirement. In 1998, Lee left the area he loved the most, Elk City, and moved to Grangeville which is where he remained until the final weeks of his life here with us.
Lee enjoyed fly fishing in the streams around Elk City and playing his guitar and singing in the areas of Elk City, Dixie, Golden, South Fork and Lewiston. He taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 6 years.
Lee is survived by Raymond and Julie Haddon of Anatone, WA.; LeRoy Haddon of Nezperce, ID.; Tim and Liz Haddon of Amboy, WA.; Terrisa (chi chi) Belknap of Paia, Maui, Hawaii; Jerry Ann and Ron Peery of Winchester, ID.; Honni Hoene and Bill of Lewiston, ID.; and Lola Denise and Chad Christopherson of Kamiah, ID. Step daughters and spouses Carol and Bill Gortsema of Whitebird, ID.; Gail and Wayne Snyder of Kamiah, ID. and Peggy and Norman Steadman of Weippe, ID. Lee is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Raymond Haddon; his wife Muriel and a grandson, Isaiah Peery.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the White Bird Cemetery in White Bird, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
