Martha M. Flanigan, 92

GRANGEVILLE: Martha M. Flanigan, 92 of Grangeville, Idaho, passed away March 4, 2005, while a patient at Syringa General Hospital.
She was born to William Vernon Murdock and Trena Kap Murdock, on June 29, 1912, at Ogden, Utah, the 5th child of seven children of the marriage. She graduated from Ogden Senior High School, and acquired further training in various catagories thereafter.
She married William B. Taylor, Sr., on October 30, 1930, and they divorced in 1943. From such union she had four children, William B. Jr., Robert J., Ann, and a third son who was stillborn. In 1947 she and her 2 surviving sons, moved to Grangeville, which remained her home until she died.
During WWII, she was employed at Hill Airforce Base, Ogden; Lowery Airforce Base, Denver; and Will Rogers Airforce Base, Oklahoma City. After she moved to Grangeville, she worked at the Dry Cleaning Plant, then in her Seamstress Business, the First Security Bank, the Motgomery Ward Store, and was the manager of the Credit Bureau for a number of years until she retired.
On December 28, 1948, she married J. Miles Flanigan, who was the Postmaster of Grangeville, for almost 30 years, and they were together until he died on June 11, 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Charlotte, Pearl, Grace, and Edna, and her brothers Parley, and William Vernon,Jr.,as well as her children, Robert J., Ann, and her stillborn son, and her beloved husband, Miles.
She was a long time member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Parish, at Grangeville.
Surviving her are her son, William B. Taylor,Jr., and his wife, Lucille; her six grandchildren, Kevin Taylor, Pamela Mower, Vern Taylor, Sheila Kerstetter, Nancy Clark, and Heidi Higginson; her twenty -six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her greatly.
At her request, cremation has taken place and no public service shall be held. A private family memorial will be held later this year.
