Sandra June James, 69

GRANGEVILLE: Sandra June James, 69 of Grangeville passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 after a brief illness at Tri State Hospital in Clarkston.

She was born February 3, 1936 in Holdrege, Nebraska a daughter of Wayne and Norma Seckman. She defied the odds of surviving being born 3 months premature at a time when most babies wouldn’t have.

The family moved to Boise when she was 3 years old and later to Lewiston where she graduated from high school in 1954. Following high school she was married for several years to Frank Heuett and lived in Lewiston. That marriage later ended in divorce. On May 20, 1966 she married Wayne James and moved to a ranch near Clearwater, Idaho. They later moved to a ranch north of Grangeville and that was her home until her death. Although born a city person, she adapted to ranch life and worked alongside her husband, especially working with calves every spring.

Sandra was a very artistic person who loved to draw. She also loved playing Bingo and other games. She was a unique person and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wayne, her children, Cheryl Heuett of Kent, WA, and Kevin Heuett of Grangeville, her sister RoJean Greene of Clarkston, WA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Gretchen Lias.

At her request, her body will be cremated. The family is planning a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family at Blackmerfuneralhome.com
