Adele Holman , 84




GRANGEVILLE: Adele Holman, 84, of Grangeville passed away Monday, August 8, 2005 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Adele was born May 28, 1921 at Grangeville, Idaho a daughter of J.C. and Nancy Jacks Cravens. She attended school in Grangeville and graduated from Grangeville High School in 1939. She then attended Lewis Clark Normal School in Lewiston for 2 years and then graduated from the University of Idaho with a teaching degree. She taught school in Kooskia and Lapwai before marrying Raymond Holman on June 3, 1951 at Grangeville. They ranched and farmed northwest of Grangeville for many years. Mr. Holman passed away in 1997. Adele moved to the Meadowlark Home in Grangeville in 2003.

She enjoyed cooking especially for large groups which included the ranch crew and church activities. She also liked to spend time with her family watching their activities and sporting events.

She was a member of the Grangeville United Methodist and served as a lay leader to the annual conference, and was active in the United Methodist Woman’s group. She was also a member of the Charity Grange #294 where she held several local and state offices, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Red Cross blood bank where she had over 1000 volunteer hours; she also helped with the American Cancer Society, served as a fair judge at area county fairs and was a 4-H leader.

She is survived by her children;, David Holman, Ron Holman, Nancy Thompson and Carol Warden all of Grangeville, her grandchildren; Chuck Thompson, Charlene Madden, Rebecca Warden, Joshua Warden, Thomas Holman, Matthew Holman, Molly Holman, Kathryn Holman and Pamela Holman, her great grandchildren; Philip, Shandra, Alyssa, Jacob and Jaxon, and her sister in law, Jean Cravens of Lewiston.

In addition to her husband, her parents, two brothers, Jesse Allen and Clayton and a grandson, Joey died earlier.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
