Glenn Frederick Wasem , 85




SPARTA, MICHIGAN:Glenn Frederick Wasem , 85, of Sparta, Michigan and formerly of Portland, Oregon and the Camas Prairie, left his earthly body and went to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior, on Monday, May 15, 2006 in Sparta.

He was born, November 24, 1920 in Cottonwood, ID, the middle son of Henry John and Alta Fortin Wasem. He grew up on the family farm east of Cottonwood and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1939. After attending University of Idaho for three years, majoring in Agriculture,
he entered the Army in 1942 and was active during WWII in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland as a Medical Technician on the 23rd Hospital Train.

Upon returning from the War, he farmed with his brother Harold for several years.

In June of 1950 he married Bernetta Bolt and they had 4 children. They moved to Craigmont, ID in 1954 where he was employed at Heartburg Implements, the J I Case dealer.. In 1958 they moved to Portland, OR where he worked at J.I. Case Co.and then for Xerox Corporation for over 20 years. He retired from Xerox in 1985 as an electronics technician.

After living in Portland for 42 years, he and Bernetta moved cross country to Sparta, MI to be near their 2 daughters, Jeannette and Lois.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour November 5, 1939 and was an active and faithful member of his church.

He is survived by his wife, Bernetta and his daughters, Jeannette and Leo Cumings of Jackson, MI, Lois and Jim Lovell of Sparta, MI, grandsons James and Ashley Cumings and Allen Cumings, granddaughters Rachael, Esther and Bethany Lovell, great granddaughter, Charis Cumings, brothers
Harold and Eldene Wasem and Lloyd and Wilma Wasem all of Grangeville, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert, daughter Shirley and great granddaughter,
Kelsey Cumings.


Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Thursday, May 18, 2006 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home.
