Donald F. Nelson, 87
Donald F. Nelson, 87, of Elk City, was born November 2, 1918 in Tillamook County, Oregon to Frank and Hattie Nelson. His life ended on August 2, 2006 in Cottonwood, Idaho.
He is survived by Alice Nelson, his wife of 27 years; six children, Sharon Toombs, David, Steve, Kathy, Chris and Andy Nelson, all residents of the state of Oregon.
Don is also survived by six step-children, Carol Spitzer, Bill, Tim and Robert Lovell, Sally Moccardinne and Liz Luttrell; 27 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren as well as one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sibling, Patricia A. Conlee.
Don was a log truck driver for more that 50 years and retired in 1980. He spent most of his life on the Nestucca River in Cloverdale, Oregon. As an avid sportsman, he spent much of his lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping in the area. He and Alice moved to Elk City in 1987.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family at 412 South E. Street, Apt. 13, Grangeville, Idaho 83530.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held in Cloverdale, Oregon at the VFW Hall on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
