George R. Kimsey, 77

George Regis Kimsey, 77, was born July 27, 1929 in Hiawassee, a very small town in the southern Appalachian Mountains of northern Georgia. He passed away on Monday, August 21, 2006 in Apache Junction, Arizona.

He joined the US Air Force upon graduation from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. While in the service, Col. Kimsey earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia. He served his country for 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1971. He then moved with his wife and three daughters to Grangeville, Idaho where he taught English for ten years before his wife of 27 years passed away. He then remarried and relocated to the Spokane, Washington area where he was elected to the position of County Auditor of Pend O’reille County, Washington. In 1989, he retired for good and moved to Apache Junction, Arizona where he resided until his death.

George is survived by his lovely wife Lora; three daughters, Karen Kimsey House of Dillon Beach, California, Deigh Requa of Moncks Corner, South Carolina and Martha Oliver of Gilbert, Arizona and four grandchildren; two brothers, Todd Kimsey of Young Harris, Georgia and Gary Kimsey of Lenoir, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church. Inurnment with Military Rites will follow at Mount Idaho Cemetery near Grangeville.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
