Marcia R. Howard, 79

Marcia Ruth Beck Howard, 79, beloved wife, mother and sister, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center following the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born June 22, 1927 in the town of Caldwell, Canyon County, Idaho to the late Leroy and Martha Alice Wolcott Beck. She attended schools in Riggins, Idaho.

On May 31, 1947, she married Frank (Franklin) Ralph Howard and they made their home in Grangeville where they started Howard’s Cold Storage which later became Howard’s IGA Foodliner. They also owned and operated Howard’s Meat Processing until Franklin retired and they moved to Meridian, Idaho. Following Frank’s death in June 2000, Marcia moved to The Royal Plaza in Lewiston, Idaho to be closer to her daughter. As the disease progressed she moved into the nursing home at the same facility until last year when she was moved to Grangeville Health and Rehab Center in Grangeville.

Marcia is survived by her son and his wife, Terrance and Kathleen of Ashburn, Virginia; her daughter and her husband, Maureen and David Green of Grangeville; six grandchildren, Donald Howard of Nampa, Idaho, Kjersti and Scott Hocking of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Glenda and Kevin Reilly of South Windsor, Connecticut, Adam and Angie Green of Liberty Lake, Washington, Brian Green of Las Vegas, Nevada, and William Green of Flagstaff, Arizona; nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Dalton, Dakota, Kailie, Hunter, Zachary, Delaney, Olivia and Michael; two sisters, Jeanne Martin of Washougal, Washington and Rebecca and Chet Lane of Nampa, Idaho and one brother, Stanley and Sam Beck of John Day, Oregon. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Virgil, Joseph and Sherman and three sisters, Olive, Lois and Dora.

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
