Prudence P. Abel, 79
Prudence P. Abel, of Grangeville, died quietly on Wednesday, Sept 27, 2006 in Grangeville at the age of 79.
She was born in Vinita, Oklahoma as Prudence P. Williams to Meredith & Lutie Williams and was raised in Nowata, Oklahoma on a farm east of town. Her grandfather, Julius Payne, was the Chief of Police in Nowata for many years.
She married Shelly Sudderth in 1944 and joined the family of Shell & Pricilla Sudderth who were long time residence of Nowata. Shelly and Prudy raised their children in Nowata and later in Dallas, Texas. Shelly was killed in an airplane accident at an age of 36 and Prudy moved to St. Louis with her mother and sister. She met Paul Abel and was remarried in 1966. She spent many wonderful years with Paul in St Louis and later in Claremore, Oklahoma near her son. Paul died in 1993 and she moved to Grangeville, Idaho with her daughter and her husband where she spent her last years.
Prudence is survived by her daughter & husband Jeanne & Bruce Howard of Grangeville, ID; son & wife Jerry & Cheryl Sudderth, Owasso, OK; grandchildren and families Laura & Mike Stanfill of Lake Jackson, TX, Shelley & Chris Leinster and Shawn & Tara Howard, Denver, CO and great grandchildren Mitchell, Samantha, Ashley & Katie.
Private family services were held on Sunday, October 1, 2006. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
