Edith E. Fowler, 78



Edith Elizabeth Fowler, 78, of Grangeville, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 22, 1928 in Kamiah, Idaho to Jesse and Rosalia Davis. She attended school in Kamiah.

On December 14, 1942 she married Eugene C. Fowler in Orofino. They had five children, Martin, Reginald Owen, Bill, Lelar and Julie. In 1956, the family moved to Grangeville. After Eugene retired from the telephone company, he and Edith enjoyed traveling in their motor home and going for walks in the mountains. Edith was greatly devoted to her husband and her family.

Edith enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering and quilting. Her children, grand children and great-grand children were all recipients of her beautiful handy work. She also won many best-of-show awards in area county fairs.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Eugene, at their home in Grangeville; four children, Martin and Anna Marie Fowler of Cottonwood, Bill and Helen Fowler of Grangeville, Lelar and Mark Gravatt of Grangeville, and Julie and Boyd Hopkins of White Bird; five grandchildren, Jeff and Kami Fowler Shadley, Dr. Rayna Gravatt, M.D., Joe and Amy Fowler, Jake and Jessie Gravatt Hackford, and Marcus Gravatt; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Katelyn Shadley; one step great-grandchild, Joe and Amy’s son Adam, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Reginald Owen, and a brother, James “Bussy” Earl Davis.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
