Lamar T. Shinskie, 71

Lamar T. Shinskie, 71, of Riggins, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Lamar was born August 11, 1935 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. He went to elementary school and also graduated from high school in Shamokin. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and served for three years until he was honorably discharged in 1957. In 1962 he moved to Mattawa, Washington and was based there for 20 years while traveling to all different areas constructing power line poles and towers. In 1990 he and his wife moved to Riggins, Idaho and bought a house on the Little Salmon River where he resided until his death.

Lamar enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, at their Riggins home; two daughters, Terrie Kohon and Penny Angelie, both of Lexington Park, Maryland; one step-daughter, Danielle Smith of Spokane, Washington, as well as numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville with cremation to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
