Loyd R. Simon, 75
GRANGEVILLE: Loyd R. Simon, 75, of Grangeville passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 at his home.
Loyd was born March 22, 1931 near Grangeville. He attended schools at Tolo and Grangeville. Following his graduation from high school he worked for a few years and then married Irene Smurthwaite on Feb. 6, 1952 at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He entered the US Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to Grangeville and worked several different jobs. He then went to work for the Idaho State Transportation Dept. and worked there until ill health forced his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Calam Temple of Shriners, Eastern Star and Mt. Idaho Lodge #9 AF & AM. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood cutting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of Grangeville, his children, Loyd Simon of Lewiston, Eileen Melberg of Puyallup, WA and Thelma Betts of Tacoma, WA, four grandchildren, Kara Simon, Keith Simon, Nicholas Gebbers and Alicia Gebbers, five brothers, Dean Simon of Missoula, MT, Glenn Simon of Kent, WA, Gale of Tennessee, Tom of Texas and Ralph of Renton, WA, and four aunts.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family at Blackmerfuneralhome.com
