Clarence E. Keller, 73

Clarence was born to V. Ellen and Clarence R. Keller on March 21, 1935 in Kim, Colorado. Clarence went to school there until moving to the Nyssa, Oregon/ Payette, Idaho area in 1946. “Clancy” to his school buddies graduated from Payette High School in 1954. Clarence was born into an era and into a place that most of us could never fathom. He got his first pair of shoes when he started school.

Following graduation, Clarence moved with his mom to Grangeville where he worked for various local farms and later Stegner Grain and Tackett’s Saw Shop.

Clarence married Aneta Edwards February 15, 1964 and they moved in September to the family home where they lived for the next 44 years until he peacefully went to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, August 12, 2008.

In 1973 Clarence and Aneta opened Keller’s Saw Shop across the street from their home and repaired chainsaws, lawnmowers and snowmobiles in the Grangeville area. Health reasons caused Clarence to retire in 1987 and close the business; however, he continued to repair whatever small engine powered item any in the local community wanted to bring him. He truly enjoyed every minute of his work.

He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. There are hundreds of fewer ground squirrels on the mountain thanks to Clarence. He was a member of the Evergreen Assembly of God Church in Grangeville for the last several years and loved his church family as much as they loved him. He had a heart for the less fortunate and was always more than willing to help anyone that was in need.

Clarence cherished all the time he had with his grandchildren, Stacy, Ethan and most recently Darian. You could see the sparkle in his eye and the love in his heart for this newest addition to the family.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 44 years, Aneta; children, Jamie (Tom) of Dryden, Michigan, Kelly (Cory) of Grangeville, and Jody (Karly) of Lewiston, Idaho; a sister, June, of Scott’s Bluff, Nebraska; nieces Debbie, Sally and Jerelynn, and nephews Nicki and Paul.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Marrieta, Veda and Erma, and nephews Randy, Don and Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at the Evergreen Assembly of God Church in Grangeville. Burial will follow at Mount Idaho Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home.
