Judy R. Merrill, 60

Judy R. Merrill, 60, of Grangeville, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville after a 2 1/2 year hard fought battle with cancer.

Judy was born July 7, 1948 at Spokane, Washington. She lived in Harpster, Southern Idaho, Winchester, and Cottonwood before moving to her own apartment in Grangeville.

Her jobs included babysitting, working at the Hilltop Café, Grangeville Senior Center and Tri-Co before her health forced her to stop working.

She enjoyed needle work, circle puzzles, watching movies and playing the card game Skip Bo with anyone that would play, and shopping until she dropped. She was active in Special Olympics and People First. She also attended Opportunities Unlimited in Grangeville where she met many friends. She also enjoyed her dog, Patches, and cat, Goldie, who are with her in Heaven.

She is survived by her mom, Laverne Hayes of Newport, WA; brother, Dwayne and his wife Vanessa of Rathdrum, Idaho; sister, Linda and her husband Robert of Grangeville; niece, Lorraine Gallegos; great nieces, Linda, Toni, Ashley, and great nephews, Todd, Timmy and Kevin of Kamiah; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other friends and her special friends, Jerry Platts, and Mama Emma and Daddy Jack Hoffman and family from Cottonwood.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at Prairie View Cemetery with Pastor Harold Gott of the Grangeville Christian Church officiating. Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
