Everett was born November 19, 1921 at Woodland, Idaho to John and Hulda Svensson Johnson. He was the youngest of nine children. He grew up on the family farm at Woodland. He attended Woodland School from grade one through ten and then finished high school at Kamiah, graduating in 1940.
He served in the Navy during WWII and then also served during the Korean War. He was a mechanic most of his life, working for Southern Cal Gas Co. in Los Angles, United Airlines in San Francisco, and Jordan Motors in Grangeville.
He married Nancy Hyne in California and they had two daughters, Bonnie and Irene. They later divorced and he married Elizabeth Stowers and they raised four children, Sue, Jerry, Bonnie and Irene. Elizabeth passed away in 2002.
Everett was an avid fisherman; he loved the high mountain lakes and steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. He also loved to spend time on Florence working on his mining claim.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Loretta Stowers of Lewiston, Roy Stowers of Grangeville, Jerry Stowers of White Bird, Sue Ervin of Grangeville and Cordova, Alaska, Ralph Stowers of Lewiston, Ray and Freda Stowers of Riggins, Bette and Virgil Evans of Lewiston, Bonnie Hibbs of Lewiston and Irene Gill of Grangeville; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; six brothers; a son, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville with Pastor Harold Gott officiating. Viewing will be Monday, February 9, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services. |
