Mona Toone (Lathrom), 80, longtime resident of Grangeville, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2009, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. She did have a sense of humor…..After suffering a massive stroke in July of 2007, she had been rehabilitating in Life Care Center of Treasure Valley, in Boise, Idaho.

Mona made her home here in Grangeville over 50 years ago and had a deep love for the mountains and prairies. She served in many local organizations and charities.

Mona was born in Ogden, Utah in 1928 and spent her youngest years in south east Idaho and Utah

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Smith (married to Silas) of Grantsville, Utah, and Anne Windsor of Salt Lake City, Utah; an older brother, James Toone of Vale, OR;  and also by her husband, Andrew Smith of Grangeville. Mona is also survived by many, many, many loved and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren who will be present at the funeral: Enos, Seth, and Eve (Seyfried), Sean, Sterling, Schuyler, and Skiffington (Smith), and Adam (Beebe). Including the spouses and great grandchildren, there are too many to list.

Mona was preceded in death by her middle daughter, Tamara Jean Seyfried, and by her oldest brother, Spencer Toone.

Mona’s ancestors have a rich heritage in the LDS faith and were counted as some of the original pioneers.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Grangeville. Burial will follow at Mount Idaho Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. in the Relief Society Room on Saturday at the church. A dinner for the family and friends will be provided by the LDS Church after the burial.

Invitations for the funeral services and burial will not be sent out. ALL friends of Mona need no invitation and will be most welcome as we say our last goodbyes.

Many thanks to all those in Grangeville for their support during this sad time: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Blackmer Funeral Home, Idaho County Free Press, Alley Dogs, and all those who expressed their support and sadness. Thank you all.
