HAROLD DWAYNE BENTLEY
July 7, 1949 ~ April 15, 2009

H. Dwayne Bentley, age 59, of Grangeville, passed away with his family at his side April 15, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington, following heart surgery.

He was born to Harold and Dee Bentley in Grangeville, Idaho

Dwayne spent most of his life here on the Camas Prairie.  He attended Small Engine Repair School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Dwayne served in the National Guard for 27 years and worked at various jobs including the Forest Service, Western Auto, Ace Hardware, and Prime land. He loved the outdoors and back country and riding his horse, Last Chance, with his family.  He especially loved the Gospels and Buffalo Hump because when he was there he was able to re-live the old stories his dad would tell of his days herding sheep in that area.  He was exceptional at working on small motors and kept his families and everybody else’s lawnmowers in working order.  Dwayne was an animal lover as you can tell by his “barnyard” menagerie.  He had a quick wit and great sense of humor as all who know him can attest to.  He recently commented that he so loved the two trips he was able to take to Alaska.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Norene, they had been married nearly 39 years; three sons, John and wife Shelly and their children Stephanie, Chase, and Kira; Jamie and Christi and children Tace, Shareena, Gregory, Madison, Brian, Tyler, and Steven; Jason and Jerry and Mason; his mother-in-law Lenore Hill; his sister Savilla and husband Mike Kieley of McCall; and his brother, Dave; his brother-in-law Norm and wife Mary Beth Meyers; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other extended family including his two aunts, Alvena and Steven Blomgren of Edwall, Washington, and Lois Bentley of Grangeville.

Family members preceding him in death were his parents, Dee and Harold Bentley, and his little son, Justin Levi.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the charity of your choice.

Following the services there will be a potluck dinner at the Eagles Lodge on “C” Street in Grangeville.
