Jack Schenck, 81, of Grangeville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his home in Grangeville.
Jack was born February 1, 1928 at Grangeville, Idaho, a son of Truman “Tude” and Ada Pollan Schenck. He married the love of his life, Betty Rose New on February 7, 1952 at Lewiston.
He loved being a cowboy in his younger years on the Spencer Ranch and talked fondly of it. The other love of his life was falling timber. He worked for several logging companies in the Grangeville area. He loved it so much, even after retiring, he shared his experiences with everyone.
He was a wonderful family man and loved his kid and grandkids. Throughout the years, his faith in God was the foundation for the family.
He was a member of the Grangeville Gospel Tabernacle Church in Grangeville.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty Rose, at the family home; his children, Jack and Pat Schenck of Post Falls, Idaho, Jolene and Victor Simonson of Tri Cities, Washington, Joy and Bill Hartley of Evansville, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Schenck of Grangeville, and Veta Halfhide of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; his sister in law, Ingrid Schenck of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, in laws, cousins, and many friends, as he never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd, and a sister, Rozanne Lehto.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the Grangeville Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery. A private family viewing will be held prior to the service.
Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Grangeville Gospel Tabernacle “Giving from the Heart Mission”, a mission to Mexico that he was a part of, or to the Gideons. |
