Rayma E. Morris, 94, of Grangeville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Morris was born September 23, 1914 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Ray and Almeda Nipps. She attended school there. She married Hollis Morris on June 24, 1938. They lived in Iowa for about 10 years and then moved to Tigard, Oregon. They lived in several places in the northwest before moving to the Grangeville area in 1964. She worked as a cook at the Prairie Drive Inn. Due to physical problems, she was forced to quit working.
Rayma was a lady that loved to serve people by preparing food for them. She could whip up a banquet type meal at the drop of a hat, seemingly out of nothing. She loved to study her bible and discuss all the difficult passages with anyone that would listen. She spent many hours listening to her favorite radio preachers as well as being a prayer warrior for her family. Her home was always open to anyone as she was pleased to serve her visitors with food or refreshments.
Mrs. Morris is survived by two sons, Hollis Morris and wife Kathy of Clarkston, Washington, and Marvin Morris and wife Vaune of Richland, Washington; four daughters, Cynthia Forrest of Grangeville, Jan Jessup and Husband Jim of Grangeville, Cheryl Hull and husband Robert of Buhl, Idaho, and Lorraine Newman and husband Larry of Stanfield, Oregon. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Terry Morris, Tracy Vetter, Christy Freeman, Joey Forrest, David Forrest, Josh Morris, Zack Morris, Ben Morris, Lynn Aiken, John Jessup, Austin Robbins, Geoff Newman, and Mark Newman; 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchilderen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Melvin Nipps; her husband ,and one grandson.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 6, 2009 at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. Pastor Harold Gott officiated.
