Henry “Dean” Sharp, 52, of Grangeville, died in a tragic car crash near Pinehurst, Idaho, on July 3, 2009, driving home to join his wife, Tracy, and daughter, Carey, for Border Days, especially the rodeos.
He was born April 27, 1957, in Long Beach, California, to Henry O. and Marcella Deluna Sharp.
He married Tracy Tackett of Grangeville on July 26, 1992.
He spent most of his life involved with trucking and for the last two years he was living his lifelong dream of owning and running his own trucking company. He liked nothing more than telling a good story — swapping tales with a cold one — laughing with friends and family. He always enjoyed his kids and especially having them around, and always kept in touch while on the road. One joy was getting home and spending time with all the horses. He collected spurs, guns, and hats, or anything else that caught his eye.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy; daughters, Carey, of Grangeville and Ellie and husband, Brian Casey; granddaughters, Nikayla and Jenna of Goldendale, Washington; son Henry Dean “Hank” Sharp, Jr. and wife, Andrea, and twin granddaughters, Hailey and Morgan of Bakersfield, California; his mother, Marcella, and stepfather, Dale Restorick of Hemet, California; stepmother, Elaine Sharp of Hutchinson, Kansas; sisters, Carol Martinez and Valerie Kirkpatrick; and brothers, Tony Sharp, Ronald Sharp and Dale Restorick.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry O. Sharp.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. Cremation will follow. Viewing will be held on Friday, July 10, from 1:00-5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Following the service, there will be a get-together with a potluck dinner at the ranch — we’ll all be sharing a final toast!
All his kids knew that Dad was so proud of them and loved them!
