Leo Baune, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville, at the age of 86. 

 

He was born June 22, 1923, at Cottonwood, Idaho, to John and Elizabeth Tacke Baune. 

 

He married Marie Arnzen on May 27, 1947, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Greencreek. 

 

Leo was a farmer/rancher and carpenter, and so enjoyed making things for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping and fishing at Winchester Lake. 

 

He leaves behind his wife, Marie, of 62 years; three daughters, Donna and husband Steve Kaschmitter, Joann and companion Terry Geltz, and Sandy and husband Mike Nelson; son Jim and wife Kari Ann Baune; seven grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, with a fourth on the way. 

 

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Aloysius and Cornelious Baune; and son-in-law, Lloyd Klemm. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Grangeville. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery. Recitation of the rosary will precede the funeral at 10:30, also at the church. Viewing will be held on Friday, July 24, from 2:00-6:00 p.m., at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. 

 

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
