Dennis D. Crosby, 65, of Grangeville, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on

Dennis was born September 8, 1944, in Ontario, Oregon to Niles and Sylvia Crosby. He attended school in Weiser, Idaho before moving to Grangeville to pursue a career in logging. After retiring in 2001, he was able to devote himself to being a full-time grandpa. 

He met and married the love of his life, Barbara Cornett, and they raised 9 children together: Kandice, Jeff, Tom, Chad, Lazelle, Lachelle, Cori, D.J. and Kayla. 

He loved his work, camping, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling with family and friends, or just simply being in the mountains. 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Barbara Crosby, at their Grangeville home; daughter Kandice and husband Charles of Moses Lake, WA; son Jeff Crosby and Mary of Hamilton, MT; son Tom and wife Robyn of Nampa, ID; son Chad and wife Amanda of Grangeville; daughter Lazelle and husband Josh of Clarkston, WA; daughter Lachelle and husband David of Wendell, ID; daughter Cori and husband Andy of Grangeville; and daughter Kayla and son D.J., both of Grangeville. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, and expecting a great grandchild; his mother, Sylvia Crosby of Weiser; brother David and wife Sandy Crosby of Weiser; sister Jeanie and husband Ray Ward of Nampa; sister Janis Stewart of Nashville, TN; sister Bev and husband Larry Ward of Lincoln City, OR; and brother Randy and wife Shannon Crosby of Weiser. 

He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandparents. 

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. 

Viewing will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009, from 3:00-8:00 p.m., at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville, and again on Tuesday, September 15, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 Noon. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 16, at 11:00 a.m., at the John Day Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Sterling Savings Bank in Grangeville in memory of Dennis Crosby.
