Celia Graushar, 92

Celia Graushar, 92, of Grangeville, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville.

She was born on November 6, 1914 in Poland, a daughter of Joseph and Stella Ulik. They moved to Milwaukee, WI. She married George Graushar and they lived in Milwaukee where she worked for the University of Wisconsin. They moved to Grangeville in the early 1980’s. Mr. Graushar passed away in 1999.

Celia was a very kind person and loved to laugh. She loved animals and took care of many neglected and injured ones.

She was a member of the Grangeville Senior Citizens and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Grangeville. She also enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by a daughter, Christine Luplow of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Michelle Cox of Lewiston and Lowell Luplow of Boise. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother. In addition to her husband, her parents, two sisters, and a brother died earlier.

A vigil service will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Grangeville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Grangeville with Father Bradley Neely as celebrant. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.

Kenneth C. Greene, 97

Kenneth C. Greene, 97, of Grangeville, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Ken was born April 29, 1910, at Grangeville, a son of Grant and Marie Hancock Green. He attended school in Grangeville and following his education he worked for Ed Jones. He married Dorothy Johnston on April 7, 1937 in Grangeville. Upon his parents advice, his father was a dentist and his mother was a funeral director, and his father said he wasn’t strong enough to be a dentist and his mother said he wasn’t dignified enough to be a funeral director, so he decided to become an electrician.

He enlisted into the US Navy the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge he returned to Grangeville and worked for Sam Lindsley, and later for Brown Motors. In 1958 he purchased the Texaco Station in Grangeville. They later retired and enjoyed spending the winter in Arizona. Dorothy passed away in 2002.

Ken enjoyed woodworking, making jewelry out of silver and turquoise, reading, and at age 83, started making stain glass windows and pieces. He also enjoyed his Navy years serving our country. He was a member of the VFW and the Methodist Church.

His is survived by his daughter and her husband, Janice and Jerry Trisler of Lenore; a son, Gare L. Greene of Seattle, WA; he is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeff Struble and Nel Layva, of Kent, WA, Greg and Carolyn Struble of Bedford, TX, and Shelly and Keith Granger of Wenatchee, WA; and his great grandchildren, Alison Struble, Veronica and Naomi Struble, and Eli and Olivia Granger.

In addition to his wife, his parents; a sister, Helen Farley, and two brothers, Grant and Warren died earlier.

Services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. Pastor Harold Gott of the Grangeville Christian Church and Pastor Cindy Roberts of the Grangeville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. Friends may call Friday, September 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
