Shirley J. Boutwell Walker, 74

Shirley J. Boutwell Walker, 74, of Grangeville, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at her residence near Grangeville.

Shirley was born January 25, 1934, in up state New York, to Mr. & Mrs. Bart. She attended schools and graduated in Rochester, New York.

She eventually moved to Stockton, California where she raised her 4 children from a previous marriage. She was employed by the UNCLE Credit Union as a credit manager for the IRA accounts. She retired in 1994. In 2001, she and Ben Walker moved to Grangeville where she resided until her death.

Her volunteer work at the Grangeville Food Bank and the Grangeville Visitor’s Center showed her great love for people and her yearning to lend a helping hand.

Shirley is survived by Ben Walker at their Grangeville home; her children, David Boutwell of Dublin, California, Daniel Boutwell of Olean, New York, Connie Cowgill of Stafford, Virginia, and Dicky Boutwell of Rutherglen, Virginia; various grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville, with burial to follow at Mount Idaho Cemetery. Viewing will be on Wednesday, May 28, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Esther Jane See Hinds, 93

Esther Jane See Hinds was born August 4, 1914 near Globe, Arizona and passed away at Grangeville Health and Rehab Center May 14, 2008 at the age of 93.

Jane is survived by sons Charles (Lynda) and Edward (Linda); grandchildren Lori Hinds, Eraka Blewett, Marsha Moehrle, Tim Hinds and Michelle Modglin.

Jane was married to George Hinds for 52 years before he passed in 1996.

She began her teaching career in backwoods one room schools in California and finished as a special education teacher in Grangeville. She was a pioneer in the field of special needs and developed programs which were copied from schools around the country. An injury cut short her teaching career.

Living in a wheelchair never seemed to slow Jane down. She lived by herself after George passed until she was 91. At age 89, she went alone to Phoenix to see a cousin and seemed to have no trouble. Wherever she went she talked to people and always found someone who had a common bond.

The family will hold a short memorial service when they scatter her ashes along side George’s at Black Lake, the time to be determined later.

Cremation was under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.

Dawson Tannor Blevins Payseno, stillborn

Dawson Tanner Blevins Payseno’s heart stopped beating at 9:14 p.m. on May 5, 2008, at Community Hospital in Missoula, Montana.

He will be loved and missed much by family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Shannon Payseno; father, Charley Blevins, Jr.; brothers, Jessy Blevins, 14, and Hunter Payseno, 9; grandparents, Pam and Les Richardson; aunts and uncles, Shane York, Misty Lester, Paul and Lindsey Edwards; surrogate father, Ian Opheim; as well as many cousins and close family friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. A lunch will follow at the Eagles Hall in Grangeville. All are welcome.

Una Mae Kelly, 82

Una Mae Kelly, 82, of Grangeville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 23, 1925 at Marshall, Arkansas, a daughter of Walter and Cleara Flowers Holsted. She attended school in Marshall. She married Mervin Kelly on Feb. 10, 1950, in Marshall. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Ontario, Oregon, and then in the early 1960’s, they moved to Grangeville, Idaho where Mervin was employed at the local saw mill. Mr. Kelly passed away in 1988.

Una Mae was a homemaker and loved to crochet. She was a member of the Grangeville Christian Church and enjoyed attending bible studies while living at Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Alm of Grangeville, and Linda and husband Rick Williams of Lewiston; a grandson, Don Alm, of Grangeville; a former son-in-law, David Alm, of Grangeville; a sister, Virginia Snow of Marshall, Arkansas; and a brother, Radius “Bill” Holsted of Arkansas. In addition to her husband, her parents and several brothers and sisters died earlier.

Services will be held Monday, May 5, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. Pastor Harold Gott of the Grangeville Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home.
