Gary M. Ticen, 58

Gary M. Ticen, 58, of Grangeville, passed away suddenly on September 23, 2005 as a result of a truck accident near Winchester.

Gary was born January 14, 1947 in Spokane, Washington to Carl and Charol C. Seay Holien. After graduating from High School, Gary entered and served time in the Navy. During this time, he married Becky A. Pfifer and they were born two boys, Eric and Randy Ticen. Gary and Becky later divorced. Gary then married Evelyn Thompson. While married to Evelyn, Gary accepted 2 step-children, Billy and Debbie Jean Thompson.

Gary enjoyed riding his Harley with his nephew Marty, and he also enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors. Gary was very easily liked and always considered to be the life of the party. He was also known as a Jack of all Trades.

Gary is survived by his companion of two years, Vanessa Owens of Grangeville; two sons, Eric & Susan Ticen and their children Sandy, Mitchell and Michelle of Spokane and son Randy and Erica Ticen and their children Erik and Andrew also of Spokane; two step children, Debbie Jean Thompson and her children Brittney, Joshua and Daniel of Dexter, Oregon.; and step son Billy Thompson; Vanessa’s children, Michael, Wayne and David; 2 brothers, Ronald Hewson of St. Maries, Idaho, and his three children, and brother Richard and Cheryl Holien of Puyallup, Washington and their four children; three sisters, Charlene Schumacher of Grangeville and her three children, Nancy Patton of Bonney Lake, Washington and her child and Janice Rhodes of Texas and her three children, as well as a large extended family members. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Charol Seay Rodgers.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, 305 North Mill Street in Grangeville. Burial will follow at Mt. Idaho Cemetery. Kathryn M. Puckett, 66

NEZPERCE: Kathryn M. Puckett, 66 of Nezperce passed away Sunday, September 18, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood.

Kathryn was born November 9, 1938 at Taunton, Massachusetts a daughter of George and Rita H. Shumway Cabana. She attended schools in Massachusetts. She worked as a receptionist for a local doctor. She married Albert Puckett in 1958 and they lived in several states and also in Germany before Mr. Puckett retired from the military. In 1971 they moved to Nezperce where she worked for Lewis County as a court recorder for several years. In their retirement years they enjoyed camping. Mr. Puckett passed away in 1999. Kathryn returned to Massachusetts a year and a half ago to take care of her ill mother and became ill herself and moved back to Nezperce this past February.

She enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, crocheting and reading.

She was a member of the Nezperce Christian Church, ICAN, and the Nezperce senior citizens.

She is survived by her two sons, Don and Lisa Puckett of Nezperce, and Stuart and Chun Puckett of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, her mother, Rita Cabana of Massachusetts her grandchildren, Stacy Puckett, Tracy Puckett, and Madison Puckett and a great grandson, Nikoloz. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Cabana of Sedro Woolly, Washington and her sisters, Lois Serpa of Massachusetts and Joan Sawtell of Florida. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and a granddaughter Mandy Morse.

Memorial services will be held Monday, September 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nezperce Christian Church. Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Terry C. Rape, 58

Terry Cecil Rape, 58, suffered a major heart attack and died shortly after on September 15, 2005. He was born January 8, 1947, to Cecil and Cleo Rape on White
Bird Hill. He was the third child and joined two sisters, Bonnie and
Georgia.

The family had several places they called home while he was growing up.
During the school year they lived in Cottonwood where his father owned a
shoe shop. Summers were spent taking care of homesteads up Slate Creek and
Skookumchuck. Some of his fondest memories were on the creeks as a child.

In 1965 he married Grace Prall. They had three children together, Tammy,
Terry and Toni, while living in Elk City. After six years of marriage the
couple went separate ways.

In 1971 he married again to Lorretta Allen. She had one son, Rob Nutting
from a previous marriage. The three lived in Lewiston and Grangeville. In
1978 the couple had a son, Allen Jessie. In 1981 they moved to Elk City
where they moved from place to place. In 1985 they divorced.

He met Mary-Kay Morgan and her three sons, Jimmy, Wyatt and Heath. They
married in 1992 and separated after two years.

He lived in Elk City until 1997 and then he moved to Riggins to be with
Allen until he graduated from high school in 1998. He then moved to
Grangeville and spent the remainder of his life taking care of his mother,
Cleo.

He loved family, friends and his pets unconditionally. He was an outdoor
sportsman with a passion for fishing. He and Allen were best buds and spent
countless hours in the great outdoors soaking it all in. They were always
together, even until the end.

He is survived by his mother, Cleo Rape; sisters, Georgia Woodly, and Bonnie
Pepper; his children, Tammy Schumaker, Terry Richter, Toni Lincoln and Allen
Rape; grandchildren, Kash, Brandi and Ty Schumaker, Crystal and Mitchell
Richter, Daniel Lincoln, Wyatt, Ruby and unborn baby boy Rape.

He was preceded in death by Ryan Richter, grandson, and his father, Cecil
Rape.

He will be missed dearly.

A memorial will be held October 1, 2005 at Skookumchuck on the Salmon River. The time
will be announced later.

William Wayne Huffman, 81

GRANGEVILLE: W. Wayne Huffman, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville, Idaho of congestive heart failure and was in declining health for the past year.
He was born August 8, 1924 near Winona, Idaho in the Red Rock area on the family farm to William Burl and Belva Austa Terwillegar Huffman. At the age of 6 he and his family moved to a farm east of Grangeville. He attended Grangeville schools riding horse back to school in the spring and fall and in the winter months his father took his sisters and him to school by horse and sleigh. He graduated from Grangeville High School in 1943. In 1944 he was inducted into the US Army during WWII and was transferred to the Army Air Force where he served as a crew chief on a C-54 transport plane. In 1946 he was honorably discharged and returned to Grangeville where he worked on the family farm and attended Lewis Clark Normal School now known as Lewis Clark State College.
On October 24, 1948 he married Clarissa Weber at Grangeville. The couple farmed and raised Hereford cattle in the Fenn area where he lived for the following 56 1/2 years.
He enjoyed spending time & visiting with his family, granddaughter and friends. He loved the outdoors, traveling, camping and rodeos as well as music.
He was a member of Charity Grange #294 for 61 years, Past Commander of American Legion Post #37, Past President of the Snowhaven Ski Association in the mid 1960's, Idaho Lewis County Cattle Association, Idaho Grain Producers Association, Western Pea and Lentil Grower Association, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder numerous times as well as a choir member. He also donated a plot of land each year to the U of I Agricultural Research Department for the development of new soft white wheat varieties for the last 12 or 15 years.
He is survived by his wife Clarissa, a daughter Deborah Stoops and her husband Ernie of Des Moines, Washington, a son Darcy Huffman of Fenn, Idaho, a granddaughter Allison Stoops attending college in Austin, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Willetta Welker, Wanda Miller and Marietta Owens.
The service will be held Friday September 16, 2005 at 11am at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville with Pastor Alan Broadwell, Trinity Lutheran Church, Grangeville, Idaho and Pastor Dudley Nolting, Concordia Lutheran Church, Pullman, Washington officiating. Internment will follow at the Denver Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Hazel May Hill, 89

GRANGEVILLE: Hazel May Hill, born Hazel May Brustad on August 14, 1916 in Columbia Township, Polk County, Minnesota passed away August 31, 2005 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grangeville, Idaho. She was 89 years old.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Ellen Hoiland of Grangeville; 5 daughters and spouses, Gail and Lloyd Wiemers, Iris Hoiland, Linda and Ken Smith, Betty and Stan Stiener and Donna and David Ward, all of Rathdrum, Idaho; one sister, Annie Nyaard of Buxton, North Dakota; a brother, Alex Brustad of Erskine, Minnesota; step sons Art, Jack and Lavern Hill; step daughter Hazel Amunrud of Spokane, WA.; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, numerous step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by 2 sons, Owen and John; 1 grandson, Wessley Wiemers; one great granddaughter, Jessica Haller; 3 brothers, Joseph, Morris and Larry Brustad; 3 sisters, Martha Maag, Carrie Hoiland and Julia Hovet; 2 husbands, Palmer Hoiland and John Hill.

Memorial services will be held September 17, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Grangeville, Idaho and on September 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall in Rathdrum, Idaho, Highway 41 and Bokel Road.

Minnie Suhr, 87

GRANGEVILLE: Minnie Suhr, 87, of Grangeville passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Minnie was born July 8, 1918 at New Amsterdam, Idaho a daughter of Tony and Hilda Vanderwall Rylaarsdam. She moved to Grangeville when she was a young girl and attended Grangeville schools. Following her education she worked as a nanny for a local family. She married Herman Suhr on July 10, 1936 at Grangeville. She worked for the Grangeville School lunch program, Peerless Cleaners, Owl Drug and did babysitting. Mr. Suhr passed away in 1962.

She enjoyed quilting and made over 300 quilts. She also enjoyed sewing and handwork.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Hilda and Pete Johnson of Cottonwood, her sons John Suhr of Grangeville and Jim and his wife Patty Suhr also of Grangeville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a sister Tena Gortsema of Spokane. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arie, John and Marinus and one sister Kate.
