LeRoy R. Stevens, 79

GRANGEVILLE: LeRoy R. Stevens, 79, of Grangeville passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at his home.

He was born November 12, 1925 at San Luis Obispo, California to John and Maude Dickerson Stevens. He attended school in California before joining the US Army during WWII and served overseas. He was discharged in 1945. He married Winona Ulricksen and they later divorced. He again joined the US Army in 1949 and was discharged in 1952. He moved to the Seattle, Washington area and worked for Boeing. He moved to Idaho in 1972 and he married Oliva Poxleitner Brady in 1974.

He enjoyed stamp collecting, rocks, camping, fishing, traveling and together he and Oliva traveled to Alaska nearly 20 times for fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife Oliva at the family home in Grangeville, his children, Daniel Stevens, Deirdre Affleck, Mark Stevens and Heidi Jennings, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Myrtle Ott and Irene McCheseney, his step children, Bill Brady, Ray Brady, Deanna Mortenson and Joyce Dickey, and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by tow sons Michael and John.

A rosary will be held Monday, October 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Grangeville, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Bob DeHaas, 63












GRANGEVILLE: Bob DeHaas 1942- 2005
Cancer claimed the life of another Warrior on October 16, 2005. Bob DeHaas chose to go home to a place of peace and free of pain but not before four years of fighting his disease with courage, determination and true grit. Bob was born Douglas Robert
DeHaas on June 13, 1942 in Grangeville, Idaho and was the tenth of eleven children born to William and Clara DeHaas. He grew up on the family farm working hard and playing hard with his siblings, friends and extended family. While attending school in Grangeville Bob met Georgia Russell. They were married in 1963. She was his one true love, best friend, and fought for him until the end.

After graduating from Grangeville High School in 1961, Bob worked at Stegner Grain & Seed until 1962 when he went to work for Willett Brothers Auto Parts. He later became store manager where he stayed until his retirement in 2003. Bob was member of the BPO Elks 1825 and served many capacities including Grangeville’s Exalted Ruler, member of the Trustees, State District Deputy, and as President of the Idaho State Association of Trustees during 1998-1999. He was member of the Snowdrifters Club, racing snowmobiles during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Bob served on the Grangeville Border Days Committee for many years and served as President during 1991. Bob is a member of the Grangeville Christian Church.

Bob and Georgia have two daughters, Tracie and Vanja. He showed them how to camp, fish, detail cars, dance, and how to fix anything with duct tape and WD-40. After the girls started their own careers and family, Bob and Georgia made many trips to see them and vacation with them. In addition to staying with his girls in Boise, Bob loved traveling with his wife; camping, fishing at Dworshak; snow mobiling in the mountains; smoking cigars around a camp fire; driving his 1950 Merc; crabbing in the Oregon Coast with his brother in law; and hanging out with his son in laws. Bob took great pride in doing a job right the first time. He worked at the same job for 41 years; was married to the same woman for 42 years; lived in the same house 38 years, and made friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, William DeHaas; his sisters, Pat Fischer and Betty Forseth; and his brothers, Marian and Richard DeHaas. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughters and son in laws, all in Boise, Tracie DeHaas-Drabek and Dave Drabek and Vanja and Justin Waters; Grandchildren, Alexandra & Conner Drabek and Mila and Phoebe Waters; his mother Clara DeHaas; his brothers all in Grangeville, John(Suzie), Frank(Rosella), Don(Myrna), Bernard(Barbara), and Gary DeHaas; his sister in Connell, WA, Sharon Hogaboam(Corky); his brother in law in Redmond, OR, Cliff Russell(Sheri); sister in law in Crooked River, OR, Win Chamberlin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Grangeville Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services to follow at Prairie View Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Roy S. “Sam” Murray, 92

GRANGEVILLE: Roy S. “Sam” Murray, 92 of Kooskia passed away October 16, 2005 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Sam was born December 22, 1912 at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, a son of Samuel and Jean Heard Murray. He attended school through the 10th grade and then worked as a salesman for National Radio Shop. In 1930 he started a career in the tool and die business and worked for several companies including the US Government and Singer. He married Bonnie Weber on February 14, 1944, they were married for over 60 years. They moved to Idaho in 1996 and Bonnie passed away last year.

He enjoyed guns, pistols, and his black lab dogs. He also liked to listen to books on tape and to talk about his past work projects. He was a life member of the NRA and he also was a sharp shooter.

At his request there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.

: Loretta M. Johnson, 70

GRANGEVILLE: Loretta M. Johnson, 70, of Grangeville passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 16, 1935 at Yakima, Washington. She attended school in Yakima before moving to Oklahoma. She married Paul L. Johnson on June 6, 1952 at Huntsville, Arkansas. They made their home in Missouri before moving to White Bird in 1956 and then moved to Grangeville in 1967. They were divorced in 1975.

She enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren, making quilts, canning, and going for car rides.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Johnson of Spokane, Washington, and David Johnson of Grangeville, a daughter, Mary Johnson of Grangeville, a brother Dick Martin of White Salmon, Washington and a sister, Genia Erckenbrack of Chehalis, Washington, five grandchildren, Mike and James Johnson of Spokane, Washington, and Chris, Aaron and Nichole Johnson of Grangeville, and three great grandchildren.

Patricia Cope, 77

Patricia M. Cope, 77 of White Bird passed on October 13, 2005 but will be forever in our hearts. She was born June 15, 1928 at the family homestead on Boles Plains to Ed and Edna Wright. She married Harold Pierstorff and had four children, Debbie Weitzel of Grangeville, Charlotte & Don Sickels, Wayne Pierstorff, and Sheryl Clark all of White Bird, they will miss their mom. Her Grandchildren; Shauyna Yoakum, Wade & Toni Sickels, Ed Clark and Dale Clark , & her Great Grand Children; Jack Marek, Konnyr Marek, and Kaci Yoakum will miss their Grandma Pat . Her brother Clifford Wright and wife Val live in California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Baird, Dean, & Allen Wright, one sister; Audrey Wright died in infancy, and Granddaughters, Holly Sickels and Jamie Pierstorff.

Services were Tuesday, October 18, 2005. The family asks that any Donations be made to the White Bird QRU at P O Box 126 White Bird, ID 83554

William "Bill" H. Reuter, 65











William "Bill" H. Reuter, 65, of Fenn, Idaho, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 3, 2005 at the family home.

He was born November 4, 1939 at the family home in Fenn to Herman William and Gladys Elizabeth Walker Reuter. He grew up on the family farm at Fenn, and attended schools in Cottonwood and Grangeville. He graduated from Grangeville High School in 1957. He joined the Army in August of 1958, and served until July 1961 at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

He met the love of his life, Katherine Parks, when he was home on leave in October of 1960. They married in Grangeville at the First Baptist Church on September 24, 1961. He worked at Stegner Grain, Union Warehouse, a Grangeville sawmill, and in construction. He was a skilled craftsman and could build anything he put his mind to. After his father’s retirement, he took over running the family farm until his own retirement in 2002. Together, William and Katherine had five children, April, Ty, Todd, Kevin and Holly.

Bill committed his life to the Lord and was baptized in 1977. He was a member and Deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cottonwood. He loved serving the Lord and served in many ways in the church. He also attended First Baptist Church and Mountain Shadows Baptist Church in Grangeville in the past. Bill loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing most of all. But his most enjoyable times spent were with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife Kathy at the family home; three sons, Ty and Shannon Reuter of Grangeville, Kevin and Christine Reuter of Grangeville and Todd and Imelda Reuter of Bremerton, Washington; daughter Holly and Tim Droegmiller of Craigmont, Idaho; grandchildren Danielle, Carly, Jordan, Nathan, Zachary & Zane Reuter of Grangeville, Courtney and Ashley Reuter of Bremerton, Washington and Hunter, Logan and Kobe Droegmiller of Craigmont; and a sister, Donna Hazelbaker of Grangeville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, April (at birth), his parents, a sister, Roberta Burke and a brother, Wayne Reuter.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Idaho Baptist Church in Mount Idaho, east of Grangeville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the building fund for the Emmanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 207, Cottonwood. Idaho 83522.
