Chloe McCulley Obituary

CHLOE A. McCULLEY

On a beautiful Camas Prairie Autumn morning on October 14, 2023 Chloe Anita McCulley went to be with her Lord.

Chloe wrote her story in this way:

"Chloe was born in White Bird, Idaho on January 10, 1926 to Ernest and Eunice (Palmer) Bentley. She was the youngest in a family of five. Her family lived on a ranch on the Doumecq Plains where she attended the Jack Pine School through ninth grade. She attended high school at White Bird and Grangeville.

Chloe's first brief marriage ended in a divorce. She married Marshall McCulley September 24, 1946. They began their life together at the McCulley Ranch on Doumecq. Their four children attended the Canfield one-room school; the same school that Marshall had attended. The family moved to Grangeville in 1957 to enroll the children in the larger school system. Chloe worked for school district #241 in the lunch program for twenty years before retiring in 1989.

Chloe and Marshall enjoyed twenty years of retirement together traveling in their trailer, often with the Good Sam-ers. They spent one winter with the snowbirds in Arizona but found something missing —they missed their children and grandchildren. Marshall passed away in 1998."

Friends and family have been repeatedly astounded by Chloe's multi-generational memory of people and places in Idaho County. She enjoyed serving on the Precinct #3 election board for more than fifty years and has been a Gonzaga basketball super-fan for decades.

Chloe's family includes her children - Wanda (Arie Koole), Wayne (Kathi), Janice (deceased) and Jack (deceased); grandchildren — Cory Koole (Haley), Holly (Tom Rebholtz), Jamie (Tate Heinzerling), Megan (Trevor Stoneberg), Mindy McCulley (deceased), Kevin Corder, Billy Morris (deceased) and Eddie Morris; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 21 at the Grangeville Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family at blackmerfuneralhome.com.

Memorials may be made in Chloe's name to the Syringa Hospital Hospice in Grangeville or a charity of choice. A special note of appreciation is extended to the Syringe Hospice Services for the excellent assistance and care provided to Chloe by their staff.
