KAMIAH: Christopher Lane Richards was born August 24, 1952, in Redland, California to Ernest and Lorelei Richards. He died October 28, 2023, at his home in Kamiah, Idaho with his family at his bedside.
Chris grew up in Redlands, graduating from Redlands High and California State College at San Bernardino with a degree in Chemistry.
He was a wonderful athlete and loved playing football and baseball. His athletic adventures led to him attempting train hopping which resulted in the loss of both legs. Undeterred by this, he took up skydiving. He was featured in newspapers and national magazines as the sky diver without legs.
Chris was an avid NASCAR fan and usually won in his fantasy league. He was also an accomplished musician and could play almost any musical instrument, but his favorite was the guitar. He also loved camping and went as often as he could.
Chris married Janeece Mohr in the late 80’s and they made their home in northern California. They had 2 children, Ernest and Laura. Chris and Janeece eventually parted but Chris remained in the Sonoma area and expanded his knowledge of wine. He moved to Idaho in 2010.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kent Richards. He is survived by his children, Erenst (Roobie) Richards and their children, Christopher, Oralia and Itzel; daughter Laura Richards; sister Karen (Jan) Gary; sister Ann (Dave) Bahl; many nieces and nephews; significant other Terrie McIntosh. Chris also leaves behind many lifelong friends and his 2 best dogs Becky and Ebba.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and Syringa Hospice. Thank you also to Ann Bahl, Ken and Robin Bahl for their support.
