Joseph Downs Obituary

Joseph Downs, 80, died on October 4, 2023 in Grangeville. Joe was born in Plains, Kansas on July 5, 1943, to Oscar and Alice Downs. He served in the Navy for twenty years, retiring in November 1980. He and Linda Uhlenkott were married on July 1, 1986, in Moscow, Idaho.

After his Navy stint, Joe moved to Idaho from Texas. He spent the next years working on farms in the Keuterville area, then earned a degree in Business Administration from LCSC. In 2013, Joe and Linda moved from Elko, Nevada to Grangeville where they made their home.

Joe is survived by his wife, Linda Uhlenkott, his son Nathan Downs (Charity), stepchildren (whom he thought of as his own): Holly Arnzen (Vaughn), Rob Corder (Shanoa), and Stephanie Babb (Jeff). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 9:30 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish. A  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at the Denver Cemetery.
